Step 1 — Fix your budget band honestly
The single biggest mistake mobile buyers make is stretching the budget by ₹5–7,000 for a spec they will never notice. Fix the band first: under ₹15,000 (basic 4G/5G daily driver), ₹15–25,000 (mainstream all-rounder), ₹25–40,000 (premium mid-range with flagship camera), ₹40–70,000 (near-flagship or older flagship), ₹70,000+ (true flagship — iPhone 15/16, Galaxy S24/S25, Pixel 9 Pro).
Then remember: no-cost EMI over 6–9 months means the effective monthly cost is 1/6th or 1/9th of the sticker price. A ₹36,000 phone on 9-month no-cost EMI is ₹4,000 a month — that changes the maths.
Step 2 — iPhone or Android?
iPhone (Apple): unmatched 5–6 year update support, smoothest software, best resale value, industry-best video recording. Weaknesses: fewer features per rupee, no fast charging by default, closed ecosystem. Buy iPhone if you plan to keep the phone 4+ years or already own Apple accessories.
Android (Samsung, Vivo, Oppo, Realme, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Motorola): far more choice at every price band, faster charging, better display specs for money, more RAM/storage headroom. Weaknesses: uneven software updates outside Samsung/Pixel, more brand-specific quirks.
Our honest Dewas recommendation: under ₹40,000 go Android (best value); ₹40–70,000 consider both (iPhone 13/14/15 vs S23 FE/OnePlus 12R); above ₹70,000 the flagship experience is a genuine toss-up, buy what your friends and family use so accessories/help are easy.
Step 3 — Specs that actually matter (and ones that don't)
What matters: processor (Snapdragon 7-gen 3 / 8-gen 2/3 / Apple A16-17-18 / Dimensity 8300+ are all excellent), RAM (8GB minimum in 2026, 12GB comfortable), storage (128GB minimum, 256GB comfortable — under-buying storage is the #1 regret), display refresh rate (90Hz or 120Hz makes a real daily difference), battery (5000mAh Android / 3800mAh+ iPhone).
What matters less than you think: megapixel counts (a 50MP Sony/Samsung sensor with OIS beats a 108MP no-OIS unit every time), gaming benchmarks (any 2024+ chip runs BGMI/COD comfortably), 5G bands (all current India phones cover Jio and Airtel 5G).
Step 4 — Cameras: what the marketing hides
In real Dewas conditions — bright afternoon light, indoor evening lighting, occasional temple/festival low-light — the phones that consistently deliver are iPhone 15/16 (best video), Samsung Galaxy S24/A55 (best low light on Android), Google Pixel 9 (best AI processing), Vivo V30/V40 (best portraits under ₹40k) and OnePlus 12R (best balance).
Number of rear cameras is mostly marketing. A phone with one great 50MP main + one usable ultrawide beats a phone with '108MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP' every time. Ignore macro and depth sensors unless you specifically use them.
Step 5 — After-sales, service and warranty
This is where a Dewas-local dealer earns its keep. If your Vivo screen cracks, your Samsung battery bulges, or your iPhone needs a Face ID repair — we coordinate the authorised service centre visit for you, we help you back up data before sending, and we follow up till the repair is done. That is not something an online purchase gives you.
All new phones we sell carry the full brand India warranty (1 year), and we help you activate manufacturer extended warranty / accidental damage plans at the counter if you want them.
